2014 ATS Formula 3 Cup calendar finalised
The ATS Formula 3 Cup race calendar has been set. In addition to the German Formula 3 debut at the “Stuttgarter Rössle” at Hockenheimring, the young talents can look forward to a true highlight. Once again, the ATS Formula 3 Cup will be included in the support programme of the DTM event at Lausitzring in September. The German Formula 3 races will be part of six ADAC GT Masters weekends throughout the season. One event with the trusted partner will take place in the neighbouring country Austria, where the young drivers will put their racing skills to the test at Red Bull Ring.
Following intensive negotiations with numerous partners, the Board of the Formula 3 Association was able to ensure the continuity of the German Formula 3, since the 2014 ATS Formula 3 Cup was registered as a national series with the DMSB. This also means that Germany’s fastest single-seater series will go to a neighbouring country for one racing weekend. The young talents will compete for points at Austria’s Red Bull Ring from June 6th to 8th. “It will be a very interesting weekend. We will be the last big event in Styria before the Grand Prix of Austria only two weeks later,” says the Head of Organisation, Sebastian Wittrisch. “The ATS Formula 3 Cup – the rehearsal for Formula 1.”
A taste of DTM
An additional weekend at a current Formula 1 track was also included. In collaboration with the ADAC and the Motorsport-Club Stuttgart e.V., a racing weekend at the Grand Prix Circuit of the Hockenheimring was organised for the contestants of the ATS Formula 3 Cup. The highlight for the young drivers will probably be the weekend from September 12th to 14th, when the ATS Formula 3 Cup will be part of the DTM support programme at Lausitzring again. Back in June of 2013 they already got a taste of touring car action at that track. Head of Organisation, Sebastian Wittrisch: “We are very pleased that we reached an agreement with the ITR e.V. again. The races within the support programme of the DTM are definitely a highlight of the season for us.”
